They settled in northern California, where she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis, earning a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Biochemistry. She obtained her M.D. degree from the prestigious Stanford University School of Medicine. She completed both her general surgery and plastic surgery training at the prestigious University of Southern California (USC). After completing plastic and reconstructive surgery training, she stayed on as a hand and microsurgery fellow with the renowned Joseph H. Boyes hand and microsurgery also at USC.
