Out of Town Patients
Here are some important things to know before your in-person visit
Travel Arrangements
If you are traveling from out of town, we recommend that you arrive at least two days before your surgery to allow for adequate rest and preparation. If possible, travel with someone you trust as all patients undergoing general anesthesia are required to have a caretaker for 24 hours after the operation. We also suggest that you plan your return travel around 1-2 weeks after your surgery to ensure that you have enough time for post-operative care and recovery. The closest airports to our facilities are LAX and Burbank Airport (BUR).

Pre-Operative Consultation
Before your surgery, you will have a pre-operative consultation with Dr. Goldberg. During this appointment, Dr. Goldberg will discuss your medical history and answer any questions you may have about your surgery. Please bring any medical records and medications that you currently take to this appointment. Depending on your injury it is likely you will need a nerve conduction study, X-rays, MRI or CT scan, and an EMG.
You may have these tests performed locally prior to your arrival to Beverly Hills, or Dr. Goldberg can refer you to a neurologist in southern California. We will need the results of these studies prior to this appointment.
Surgery Day
On the day of your surgery, please arrive at the surgical facility at least two hours before your scheduled surgery time. You should not eat or drink anything for at least eight hours before your surgery, as this can affect the anesthesia. Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and avoid wearing any jewelry, makeup, or contact lenses. Most surgeries are outpatient and you will be able to return to your hotel the same day.
Post-Operative Care
After your surgery, you will likely need to stay in the area for 1 week for follow-up appointments with Dr. Goldberg. We will provide you with detailed instructions on post-operative care, including wound care, medication management, and when to resume normal activities. It is essential that you follow these instructions carefully to ensure a speedy and safe recovery.
We hope that this information helps you prepare for your surgery with Dr. Goldberg. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to providing you with exceptional care and support during your stay in Beverly Hills.
