My journey began back in late 2019. On December 10, 2019, I was admitted to Harbor UCLA due to necrotizing fasciitis. I was in the hospital for quite some time, requiring multiple surgeries to save my left upper limb, but most importantly, my life. I had most of my left bicep removed due to the infection that was inside. Fortunately, my right upper extremity was saved. I had “very limited mobility” as you can imagine with the loss of muscle and extensive nerve damage.
I am forever grateful to Dr. Goldberg. She has reconstructed my whole bicep and put my extremity back together, literally. After several surgeries, including skin grafts, scare tissue repairs, and nerve repair surgeries…I have mobility back in my wrist, and I have finger extension. I cannot thank Dr. Goldberg and the whole team who helped save my life and my arm enough. Your expertise, professionalism and care you delivered has not only given me function back into my arm but has given me more reasons to live and enjoy all that life brings my way. Thanks to her, I still HAVE a right hand -- and didn't die from a (freak) staph infection that very easily could've become septic. I was seen by three "top" hand doctors.
